Looking Forward to a Wonderful Week 3!

I am looking forward to a WONDERFUL week 3! I am so excited to continue our reading of The Wonderful Wizard of Oz! The kids are learning so many new vocabulary words! We are learning how to organize our thoughts and retell the story! We will also start working on some specific phonics lessons and begin some spelling this week! We hope to have some 'weekly' words for spelling. We are meeting Monday after school in a grade level meeting to learn how to 'score' students to make sure they are using an appropriate list of words. I am super excited about this spelling program. It will help individualize the list of words for students so that they may work on the skills they need as individuals.

In reading, I will finish up specifying levels for students to begin reading as independant readers. Students will have access to Raz-Kids, an online reading program that will help them zoom through reading levels by combining fun stories read on the computer with the 'Raz-Rocket,' a game which students can earn stars and play by succeeding in reading!

In math, we will continue working on numbers and begin our work on fact families. We have read the story, "Corduroy" and are continuing our practice of 'skip counting.' We will also continue our work on multiple representations, as well as being our work with story problems.

LET'S GO TEAM BROWN!
